Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 June 2026

Travel by Trees is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. This page explains the little that is processed, and why.

What we don’t do

  • No user accounts or logins.
  • No advertising or marketing cookies.
  • No selling or sharing of personal data.
  • No cross-site tracking or behavioural profiles.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to see roughly how many people visit and how quickly pages load. These are cookieless and aggregate: they don’t build a profile of you or follow you across other sites.

Searching for places

When you type a start or destination, that text (and, if you choose to search near you, an approximate location) is sent to Photon, a geocoding service run by Komoot, to find matching places. We don’t store your searches.

Routing and the map

Calculating a route sends the start and end coordinates to our own routing server to draw the line. Map tiles and route data are served from our own servers too. Like any web server, these keep short-lived technical logs (including IP addresses) to keep the service running and to prevent abuse; they aren’t used to identify you.

Your location (GPS)

If you allow location access, your position is used in your browser to centre the map and set your start point. It stays on your device, except for the coordinates needed to compute a route, which are sent to the routing server like any other start point. We don’t store your location.

Feedback

If you send feedback through the menu, your message and anything you choose to include are handled by UserJot, the tool we use to collect and manage feedback. Please don’t include sensitive personal information in feedback.

Your rights

The GDPR applies. Because we don’t hold accounts or personal profiles, there is very little to access or delete, but if you have a question or request about your data, email me@vincentpeters.be.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will update, and any material change will be noted here.
